We formed in 2007 to provide a voice for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people who live, work, study or socialise in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, or who visit the Borough regularly. Initially our main focus was on homophobia and transphobia, with specific reference to crime and community safety but we soon expanded our areas of interest to including the whole range of local services such as education, health and housing. More details can be found in the "Areas of Interest" .
The Forum acts as an advisory group to the local council, the local police and other agencies such as the health service. We regularly attend meetings with all the local statutory agencies and we participate in consultations on a wide range of issues. We are the lead LGBT organisation doing so within the Borough and we are the lead organisation for LGBT issues within the local Council for Voluntary Service.
To better fulfil our role, we need to hear from ALL members of the local LGBT community. We meet regularly and all are welcome to attend. We are working to develop new ways of communicating with people outside formal meetings so contact us even if meetings are not your thing!
Join us now by e-mailing your details to: info@richmondlgbtforum.org.uk
All we need is your name and e-mail address and we will regularly circulate you with details of forthcoming meetings, events and with other information of interest.
Although we are presently an informal, unincorporated organisation we are working towards becoming incorporated and becoming a registered charity so that we can better represent the local LGBT community and begin to provide them with formal advocacy and other support.
