Visit of the Pope to Twickenham in September:
The Pope is visiting St Mary's University College in Strawberry Hill, Twickenham on 17th September 2010 as part of his State Visit to the UK. We believe that he, and the Vatican, hold a variety of views which are homophobic, transphobic and misogynistic and which we should challenge.
We held a Public Meeting in August to allow local people to discuss the issues. We heard from a number of speakers, including Peter Tatchell, who spoke about particular concerns and a representative of Catholic Voices, Neil D'Aguiar, who provided the counter arguments from the perspective of the Catholic Church.
Details of the speeches can be found here:

to "Notes of Speeches" document
Following the meeting we decided to try to raise awareness of the issues amongst LGBT communities across the UK and we compiled a Position Statement setting out our views.
The Position Statement can be found here:

document
We have now launched a text campaign to gather support for our challenge to
the views of the Pope and to simultaneously raise money for charities and others
who support the victims of discrimination, hatred and hostility. A poster about
our text campaign is here:
